Cafe Notturno

I stumbled across this place with my kids in tow a few days ago. We had walked all the way from little burke street past many food places just trying to find “normal food” not some wanky stacked pretentious ego food. OMG we were so happy. Bacon and eggs on toast, and the smallest one had a ham cheese toasty. At first the owner, who I found out 3 visits later was called “Sal”, got the milkshake order wrong (chocolate instead of vanilla). I told my kids not to worry chocolate was good too and they would have drank it, but Sal must have seen the disappointment in their faces and was insistent that he make the correct ones. He left the chocolate one free of charge which I drank The meal was superb and reasonably costed. Then I noticed the waitress departing. I asked him if he was closing up and he was (They close over lunch since covid). But he insisted we stay and enjoy, without rushing as they had to clean up anyway. Excellent customer service. We returned that night for dinner (bringing the wife this time) and the kids had burgers and chips that were also excellent, and my wife had the carbonara with added chicken. I had the scotch steak. All perfect. The following day, the kids insisted they wanted to go back to the nice man’s restraunt with the good food. So we are 3 meals in a row there. Its quite a long walk for the two young kids (and this aging body) but everyone is willing to make the track.

Walked in here to get away from the cold, and I was not disappointed at all. From the welcome greeting to taking our order to serving us, it was just an excellent and quick service. The food was fabulous and tasty, too. I was lucky that the food was not devoured before I got some pictures, I can assure you, tho' it was certainly demolished afters. Thank you Team Notturno!

Good spread of your classic Italian favourites, both the pizza’s and pastas were very good! Nicely set outdoor area for those nice weather days, and plenty of room inside for when the rain eventually falls in the next 10 mins. Service could be better, it’s a must for the staff to be familiar with the menu, and we constantly had to point out items to the waitress to correctly understand
